Let's Talk About You
In counseling sessions, I provide an understanding, non-judgmental, and relaxing atmosphere in which you can comfortably work through your problems. I want to get a thorough understanding of what it feels like to live life in your shoes. I realize it isn’t always easy to discuss certain issues, so it’s perfectly fine to move at your own pace in counseling.
A lot of times, I’ll provide you with empathy and validation about the situations you describe. At other times, I may be most helpful by gently challenging the thoughts that automatically come up in stressful situations in your daily life. A lot of the reactive thoughts we have as humans are completely understandable responses to stress, yet these thoughts are not always the most helpful or accurate ways to view situations. I will work on helping you modify things you think and do that may be getting in your way in the long run (even though a lot of these things seem to help deal with stress in the short run).
In many cases, I’ll help you learn some healthy coping techniques that can make your life less stressful and more enjoyable. These can be skills such as problem solving, communication, relaxation, etc. I take a very down-to-earth approach to this, meaning I recommend coping techniques that are easy to understand, easy to do, and can realistically fit into your busy lifestyle.
Throughout the counseling process, I consistently seek feedback from you in order to make sure you're getting what you need from this experience. If there's something you need that I can't adequately provide, I'll be honest about that, and I'll help you find a more appropriate resource.
Invest In Your Mental Health
I recognize that counseling is often no small undertaking. It takes a commitment of time, emotional energy, and money, all of which can be hard to find at times. However, if you put forth effort in sessions and outside of sessions, you’re likely to benefit noticeably from therapy.
Get Started Now!
Figuring out what kind of help you want, finding a qualified professional, and checking their availability can be an overwhelming and tedious process. The professional you schedule with will often not be available right away, meaning you may have to wait a few days or weeks before your initial meeting. Therefore, regardless of whether you seek help with me or with someone else, I urge you to start the process today. Don't wait for several more weeks or months until the situation is worse.
Take care of your own wellbeing--and those you love--by scheduling an appointment today.
What Brings You Here?
Maybe you've been considering talking about your problems with someone for a while now. These problems might be decreasing your enjoyment in life, as well as hindering productivity at work and your effectiveness as a parent and/or partner. If you're like a lot of people, you've already tried to manage things on your own, but recently that hasn't worked as well for you.
When you’re having problems in life, it can be helpful to get an outsider's perspective on the issues you are facing. A good counselor can help you look at your problems in a different way, learn a better approach to dealing with stressful situations, help you learn more about yourself, and realize how strong and happy you really can be. This can benefit you and the important people in your life.
